[Shopify Plus] Bigblue Pickup Point Selector

Context

Shopify is currently transitioning all Plus merchants to Checkout Extensibility (see below). While this will enable customizing checkouts, it also deprecated our original map. To continue offering a premium pickup point experience to your buyers, we have developed a module compatible with Checkout extensibility, also working with Shopify Shop Pay ! This module can be used by Bigblue (free for Advanced Plans and higher) and non-Bigblue merchants (From $150/month. 7-day free trial).

Checkout Extensibility

What is Shopify Checkout extensibility?

Checkout Extensibility is a new version of Shopify Checkout that standardises customisation. We won’t be able to update directly the checkout code anymore (checkout.liquid) but we’ll have to use extensions to do so. Thanks to this innovation, you’ll be able to easily use extensions in your checkout to improve the buyer experience and do upsell for example.

How to activate Shopify Checkout extensibility?

You can follow the Shopify Help center to switch your theme to the new version.

When will be the deadline to switch to Shopify Checkout extensibility?

Shopify is no longer giving access to the old version and will encourage merchants to switch to the new version in the next months. In 2025, the old checkout version will be turned off.

Bigblue Pickup Point Selector Setup

1. Bigblue Pickup points on Shopify

First, you need to download the module on your Shopify (here):

2. Google Maps

In this new version of Shopify Checkout, Shopify forces merchants to use Google Maps for any component in the Shopify checkout using a map. Therefore, it requires to open a Google Maps account and to add your credit card details.

While this will be free for 95% of merchants, if you go above Google Maps' free threshold, some charges may incur. You can find the Google Maps pricing details (here), in short:

• $200 free credits per month (28.500 map loads → around 10-15k pickup points orders).
• Around 1.5 cents per order above the $200 threshold.

To do so, you must create two API keys and whitelist some domains, as explained here.

3. Shopify UI Extension

Then, you need to integrate this module to your Checkout, Thank you and Order status pages. You can use this guide. If you can’t edit the Thank you page and/or the order Status page, please contact Shopify and ask them to activate it for your account.

4. Shipping method mapping & Subscription cancellation

Finally, as a Bigblue merchant, you can just enable the Bigblue sync on the Settings page of the module on Shopify:

• The module with sync with the Bigblue app and use the shipping method ↔ Transport offer mapping from the Bigblue app. The map will be displayed for all shipping method mapped to a pickup point carrier.

• If you are using the following plans on Bigblue, you’ll be able to switch to a free plan on the Shopify Pickup points module:
