Carrier surcharges basics

When shipping with different carriers, additional surcharges may apply depending on the carrier, shipment dimensions, or the time of year. These surcharges are separate from the standard shipping fees and are applied to cover specific costs.

Common carrier surcharges include:

  • Fuel Surcharges – Applied based on fluctuations in fuel prices.
  • Peak Surcharges – Applied during high-demand periods, such as holidays or seasonal peaks.
  • Extra Dimension Surcharges – Applied for shipments exceeding standard size or weight limits.
    • Note: Each surcharge has its own terms and conditions, which can be found in the respective carrier’s Help Center articles.
  • Island / Remote Area Surcharges – Applied for deliveries to remote locations or islands.
    • Note: Each surcharge has its own terms and conditions, which can be found in the respective carrier’s Help Center articles.
