Creating and managing inventory allocations

Plan requirements

Inventory allocations are available on the Bigblue Advanced plan. For information about Bigblue Advanced Plan pricing, contact us.

Create an allocation

You can create an allocation from your Bigblue inventory. Once created, only the Product section remains editable.

Steps

  1. From your Bigblue admin, go to Inventory > Inventory allocations.
  2. Click Create allocation.
  3. Enter an allocation name. This name is displayed on the inventory overview to help you identifying live allocations.
  4. Select the warehouse that should be used as reference for available inventory. If you only have one warehouse, it will be auto-selected.
  5. Select the allocation purpose and auto-adjustment rule.
  6. In the Sales channels section, select the sales channels affected by the allocation. If you don’t select any sales channels, the allocation will only be available for manual orders.
  7. In the Products section, configure the affected products:
    1. Add your products to the allocation.
    2. Set the allocated quantity for each product.
    3. Optional: You can import products in bulk with a CSV file. The headers of your file must be BigblueProductSKU and Quantity.
  8. Click Save.

Edit an allocation

You can modify the products and quantities in the allocation at any moment after it has been created.

  1. From your Bigblue admin, go to Inventory > Inventory allocations.
  2. Select the second tab Allocations.
  3. Click the allocation you want to update.
  4. Make any of the following updates to the allocation:
    1. Delete a product: in the Product section, click on the trash button.
    2. Add a new product and set its quantity.
    3. Update the quantity of an existing product. The new quantity will be used as such immediately on the allocation and on the related sales channels.
  5. Optional: You can export the existing allocation products and quantities, before re-importing them.
  6. Click Save.

Deactivate an allocation

If you want to stop using allocated quantities and using the available inventory instead, you can deactivate the allocation.

  1. From your Bigblue admin, go to Inventory > Inventory allocations.
  2. Select the second tab Allocations.
  3. Click the allocation you want to deactivate.
  4. Click the … button
  5. Select Deactivate.

Allocated quantities will immediately stop being used and replaced by available quantities on the sales channels that were covered by the allocation.
