Stop sales on a product

Plan requirements

Inventory allocations are available on the Bigblue Advanced plan. For information about Bigblue Advanced Plan pricing, contact us.

Inventory allocations allow you to immediately stop sales on one or several SKUs. This is useful if you want to control product availabilities across sales channels from a single place or if you need to temporary limit sales on a specific market.

As soon as your allocation is deactivated product quantities will be turned back to the available quantities.

Note: Inventory updates on Shopify are usually reflected within 10–15 minutes after creating, editing, or deactivating an allocation. Please keep this timing in mind when managing stock changes.

Stop sales on a product

Steps

  1. From your Bigblue admin, go to Inventory > Inventory allocations.
  2. Click Create allocation.
  3. Enter an allocation name. This name is displayed on the inventory overview to help you identifying live allocations.
  4. Select the warehouse that should be used as reference for available inventory. If you only have one warehouse, it will be auto-selected.
  5. Select the Pre-sell inventory purpose in the Purpose section. While not very impactful in this use case, this will prevent bad consequences on other channels if values are updated by mistake in the future.
  6. Select the auto-adjustment rule follow allocation.
  7. In the Sales channels section, select the channel you want to stop sales on. Other channels won’t be affected.
  8. In the Products section, configure the affected products:
    1. Add your products to the allocation.
    2. Set the allocated quantity for each product to zero.
    3. Optional: You can import products in bulk with a CSV file. The headers of your file must be BigblueProductSKU and Quantity.
  9. Click Save.

Additional step for Shopify users

If you are using Shopify, make sure that the option “Sell when out of stock” is switched OFF on the inventory section of a product on Shopify.

If this option remains enabled, customers may still be able to place orders even when the allocated quantity is set to zero.

Reminder: Inventory synchronization with Shopify may take up to 10–15 minutes after saving your allocation.
